What the heck are the 5 Elements?
Great question! The 5 Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water come from a branch of Classical East Asian Medicine (CEAM) called 5 Element Theory. These 5 elements or archetypes describe the patterns and relationships observed in the natural world over thousands of years. Therefore, each element is associated with certain organs within the body, energy meridians, seasons of the year, climates, stages of life, physical ailments and even emotional strengths and vulnerabilities.
What does this mean for you and your horse?
By learning to recognize these patterns of seemingly unrelated symptoms, you can discover your horse’s own unique elemental archetype or constitution. With that knowledge comes a deeper understanding of the physical symptoms they may be more prone to, the environments/lifestyles/careers they might thrive in, the things that stress them out, and so much more!
If you’re curious and ready to learn more let’s chat during our session this month! We’ll discuss things like their current living environment, old injuries, do they have a hard time handling the heat, or maybe get really stiff and grumpy with the cold? Do they suffer with tendon issues or a chronic cough? Do they get anxious when leaving home or really stubborn and cranky if dinner is late? All these things are great indicators of their elemental picture! We’ll focus largely on the acupressure during this session and afterwards I’ll put together a full PDF manual detailing your horse’s current elemental picture, some helpful lifestyle suggestions as well as a customized point protocol you can use in between sessions to keep your horses feeling their best. And don’t worry, I’ll teach you how to find and activate each of those points too!
