What is Fascia?
Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds, separates and holds together all of our muscles, organs, bones, tendons, ligaments and all other structures in our body. It’s the pathway through which the water in our body travels, as well as the electrical impulses of the nervous system and even the energy meridians we are influencing through acupressure.
It’s absolutely vital to keep this intricate system of the body functioning properly, especially in our equine athletes, which is why each of your horses experience MFR or Myofascial Release during their Wellness Sessions each month.
To ensure I am providing the best care to your horses, this summer I traveled to Maryland for advanced, hands on training in MFR with the world-renowned Ruth Mitchell-Golladay, PT, EEBW, CMT. She was trained by John Barnes himself, the creator of Myofascial Release.
And just as I had hoped, incorporating this work into my practice is becoming a game changer for so many horses.
This is a fairly short but super informative video demonstrating the structure and function of fascia in the body. If you have any questions after watching this video, feel free to reach out!
